I am always starving after class. There must be something about walking around in the hot Florida heat and listening to professors teaching that builds up an appetite. It is borderline ridiculous. In turn, I am no stranger to restaurants near campus and love a good snack. These are my favorite places to eat near USF’s Tampa Campus.

Grain and Berry is a delicious (and healthy) superfood cafe located 0.3 miles from campus. They serve everything from juices to avocado toast. I am obsessed with their Caprese avocado toast and seasonal pumpkin bowl. All of their selection tastes fresh and their nutritional information is readily available. The atmosphere is trendy yet comforting with aesthetic decor and plenty of seating. It is within walking distance of campus but students will have to cross Bruce B Downs. Please be careful while walking across busy roads– it is a jungle out here!

Woodfired Pizza Wine Bar

Located off of Bearss, this artisanal woodfired pizza bar is addicting. They offer 100 different wines and a variety of appetizers and desserts. My personal favorite pizza is the chicken pesto. The restaurant describes it as a pizza with “house-made pesto, chicken, thinly sliced fresh tomatoes, New York ricotta, and thinly sliced raw red fresh onions”. It is heavenly and the wood-fired oven truly enhances the flavors of each ingredient. It is located 1.2 miles from campus.

Hiccups and Churroholics

If you are in the mood for American, Spanish, or Asian food– you are in for a treat! Hiccups, an asian restaurant with many classic asian entrees and boba, combined with Churroholics, a Spanish-inspired dessert line. They are owned by the same parent company and pair beautifully together. Where else could you order french fries, pad thai, and a churro? It is located in Carrollwood, 5.3 miles from campus.

China Yuan Seafood Restaurant

China Yuan has the best fried rice in town. It is no contest. They consistently serve a delicious medley of chicken, shrimp, and pork in their house fried rice alongside veggies like peas and lettuce. Their food is authentic Chinese in the Cantonese style and some of the vegetables used in the dishes is grown on their farm in Plant City. I have been coming to this local restaurant for close to a decade with my family. The owners and staff are incredible, and the food is even better! They serve everything from hot pot to coconut pudding to frog. I highly recommend eating at China Yuan. It is located 5.3 miles from campus off of Armenia Avenue.
