Need a fun place to shop for some awesome costumes or just edgy new clothes? Check out Anarchist Closet on 56th Street in Tampa.

Anarchist Closet specializes in punk, goth, and alternative fashions, but you can also find fun, new styles to fit into your wardrobe. If you still need a costume for any upcoming festivity, Anarchist Closet is the place to go.

Right now, the entire back room of the store is stocked with Renaissance attire, for women and men, just in case you want to dress up for the Bay Area Renaissance Festival.

Anarchist Closet always has corsets and other edgy clothing available and luckily for me, I love corsets. I got an adorable steel boned black corset with pink frills for this year’s Gasparilla Parade. Anarchist Closet carries lots of different styles, for any occasion, so you can be sure you won’t show up to an event and see your clothing-doppelganger.

Now, how did I get my costume (almost) free you might ask? I sold the clothes that have been sitting in my closet for months unworn for store credit. Anarchist Closet sells so many different styles of clothing that you can buy, or sell, almost anything your heart desires. Some other stores may buy your used clothes, but the store often requires only a few months old, and you barely get anything in return. Anarchist Closet is your best bet to really get a good deal.

Even if you just want to shop, you don’t have to spend your entire paycheck on just one outfit. The store frequently offers dollar sales, and sometimes $2 dollar “fill-a-bag” sales, which is an amazing deal for college students.

You can get a new outfit for any event and when Halloween rolls around, they break out all the Halloween costumes for a fraction of the cost of a Halloween store.

So, if you’re looking to really stand out in an original, one-of-a-kind outfit (or costume) head to Anarchist Closet. Don’t follow the trends, set them.

It’s super close to campus, it won’t break the bank, and if you sell your old clothes, you can basically get a free outfit.

Anarchist Closet is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. For more information, you can also visit their website.
