Merry Christmas, everyone! And, yes, I mean Merry Christmas in the beginning of November. And, yes, I am fully aware that there is another holiday before Christmas.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy stuffing my face with turkey on Thanksgiving, but the fact is that November 1st is the start of the Christmas season.
Just because I’m celebrating Christmas from November to December doesn’t mean that I can’t take a break on November 28 to eat enough food to go into a coma with my friends and family.
It just means that November 1 through November 27, I’ll be listening to “Jingle Bell Rock” and donning my favorite Christmas sweaters (a dangerous feat in Florida).
Then on the 28th, when everyone has dinner at 2 p.m. for some reason, I’ll praise the turkey gods or whatever it is that people do on a holiday that celebrates a time rightbefore the Europeans stole a bunch of land from Native Americans shortly after bringing them diseases.
But, hey, at least they shared some turkey, right?
So, until the 28th–a day that you will find me in a food coma on the couch with the rest of my family— I will be celebrating the most wonderful time of the year.
And no, I won’t feel bad about “forgetting Thanksgiving.”
