Even though finals week is getting closer and closer, so is the long awaited vacation. I feel like the preparation for a vacation is one of the best parts of the whole process. Depending on your type of getaway, it may not be necessary to get your hair done. If it’s a tropical vacation, I would skip out on the blow out and go straight to a wax/laser appointment, get my nails and toes done, get a facial, and make a quick trip to Target and Sephora. After the pampering I would move on to the list making, it would look a little like this:

  • Make a packing list
  • Snack bag
  • Online check in
  • Check weather for destination
  • Passport
  • Confirm hotel/airbnb/hostel reservation
  • Download maps on phone
  • Make sure cell phone plan works for the destination
  • Packing cubes
  • Clean bathroom and room
  • Do any last minute laundry
  • Make sure boarding pass is on phone

My packing list would look a little like this:

  • Phone charger
  • 14 pairs of underwear
  • 10 pairs of socks
  • Bathing suits
  • Headphones (Bluetooth and with cord)
  • Portable charger
  • Adapter
  • Gum
  • Wallet
  • Toothbrush + Toothpaste
  • Hair ties
  • Hair brush
  • Perfume
  • Body wash + shampoo + conditioner
  • Body lotion
  • Sunscreen
  • Chapstick
  • Deodorant
  • Vitamins
  • Clorox wipes
  • Glasses
  • Sunglasses
  • Contacts
  • 1 pair of shoes
  • 1 pair of sandals
  • 1 pair of flip flops or velcro waterproof sandals
  • Jewelry
  • Pajamas
  • Dresses
  • Bras
  • Shorts
  • 1-2 pairs of jeans
  • Linen sets
  • Clothing sets
  • Mini umbrella
  • Band-aids
  • Advil
  • Fash wash
  • Face moisturizer
  • 1 book
  • Nail clippers
  • Fanny pack
  • Shoulder bag
  • Tops

Vacation prep will be different for everyone depending on if you have plants, pets, or going on a road trip. On top of the facial, laser, and nails, I would also get a massage. None of these glow up things are necessary but safety definitely is! I would recommend giving your family a copy of your passport and your itinerary in case anything is misplaced and for someone to know where you are. Vacation prep is to make you feel at your best and confident for your trip, so do what makes you feel good. The lists may seem a bit much but they help with getting rid of the “I think I’m forgetting something” feeling.

Safe travels,

Gaby
