It’s that time of the semester when businesses are looking for new interns for the new semester. Submitting an application and resume is the easy part! It’s the interview that tends to make people anxious, but if you come prepared in an outfit that makes you feel great then you are sure to radiate that confidence in the interview. Here are some must-have interview outfit pieces recommended by Her Campus USF.
Blazer
Whether you choose a colored, patterned, or a plain, black blazer, this piece is going to make you look professional. A blazer is the signature look for professionals and will be found in almost every office environment. Be sure to pair it with a shirt that is not low-cut and you will look great!
Bootcut Pants
Nothing says prepared like these bootcut style pants. Not too tight but not too lose, these pants are sure to flatter you in a professional way. Your interviewer will take you seriously from the minute you walk through the door if you wear a pair of bootcut pants. Choose a plain color and pair is with a patterned shirt.
Heels
Heels are a given when it comes to your internship outfit, but what color? What size heel? What style? When choosing the professional heel be sure to keep the colors neutral and the heel on the shorter side. A closed or open-toe heel is fine as long as you keep the heel low and the color natural.
The Bag
A bag or purse with shape is preferred when attending an internship interview. Avoiding slouchy purses is a good idea because those purses tend to give off a vibe that you are unorganized. Be sure to have everything in your bag where you can reach it and be sure you know where everything is so you are not digging around looking for a pen. Use a bag that is big enough to hold your portfolio, if you have one, and a folder of your resumes. Take more than one pen with you and, of course, leave your phone off or in your car!
