“Go On With Your Bad Self!”
Robin Roberts is an anchor of ABC’s morning show Good Morning America.
Robin Roberts began her career as a sports reporter on WDAM-TV in Mississippi. From there she traveled the nation working with other television stations prior to landing the role as sportscaster for ESPN. It was Roberts’ catchphrase, “Go On With Your Bad Self!” that gained her popularity. Fifteen years later, Roberts became a morning anchor on Good Morning America, helping boost the shows ratings.
Roberts was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Hall’s Class of 2012 due to her contributions through broadcasting and play. As a child, Roberts played basketball and was offered a basketball scholarship to Louisiana State University. However, Roberts attended Southeastern Louisiana University because she was looking for a smaller school to attend. At Southeastern Louisiana University, she excelled on the basketball court leading Southeastern Louisiana University to host a ceremony to retire Roberts’ number 21 jersey.
Unfortunately in 2008, Roberts’ was diagnosed with breast cancer. After extensive chemotherapy treatments Roberts’ was able to overcome her battle with cancer. Then in 2012 Roberts was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a bone marrow disease. Roberts made her disease and sexual orientation public at the time of her bone marrow transplant. With extensive research and the help of finding a donor, Roberts went through a bone marrow transplant, but had to leave GMA during that time due to her health. As for Robin Roberts’ relationship with Amber Laign, this was the first time Roberts had made her sexual orientation public.
Robin Roberts returned to the air on GMA at the beginning of 2013. She was awarded at the 2013 ESPYs, where she received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
