Marcia, Marcia, Marcia: A Fashion Icon for Any Decade

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

The styles of the 1970s are back in a big way. Think flared pants, chunky shoes and buttoned miniskirts: you’ve seen them all in your favorite stores and on your friends. And, if you watched The Brady Bunch as a kid—or last week, I don’t blame you—then you know Marcia Brady already pulled off the classic 70s styles that Forever 21 is selling this year. Many of her outfits are stylish for any season, especially as the weather warms up. Below is a roundup of three of Marcia’s best looks, and how you can steal her style for class or a night out.

1.

Marcia’s structured button-down mini skirt is a classic silhouette that flatters a variety of body types. And skirts work for almost any occasion, making a quality skirt a good investment. Pair a dark skirt with a simple top like hers for a timeless look.

2.

This picture shows off one of Marcia’s favorite shoe types: the chunky heel. Her shoes pair perfectly with her flower-patterned dress, which is perfect for spring. The collar gives her outfit a dramatic and distinctly 70s feel.

3.

Black-and-white checkered pattern stays in style: have you seen the new Vans x Urban Outfitters collab shoe? Marcia’s turtleneck is perfect for days that are chilly, even as April 2017 heats up. Make the look your own with a sleeveless turtleneck, and you can keep wearing it during the summer! Her double-holed belt ties the look together.

Are you inspired by any outfits from your favorite TV shows? How do you make them your own? Tell me about it in the comments!

I am a junior at the University of South Florida. I am specializing in Public Relations while pursuing certificates in Business and Visualization & Design. I hope to one day combine all of these and pursue law in the entertainment and even branch out to other passions in family law. While I am studying to achieve these dreams, I have furthered my collection of coffee cups and obsession with caffeine. I currently work as a barista and love to whip up new ideas, whether it be actual coffee creations or branding ideas. My other hobbies include enjoying short walks to the movies and my computer. This is usually to catch up on the latest and greatest shows. If it's not film, it is music. I love the thrill of listening to live music of my favorite and new bands. These inspire me to discover my individuality and brand, while challenging myself to help others find theirs.
