Tell me about your album.
“I’ve been working on it since February. The guy that I worked with, Josiah Hughes was really lenient with me and helped me write some stuff. I paid for the entire thing myself. It was meant to be done by July, but wasn’t actually released until September 9th.”
Who helped you the most throughout the process of creating your album?
“Probably my producer, Josiah. Anytime he had an idea, or he felt like I was doing something wrong, or he had something cool to put on the table we always worked together to do it. He was always the one to be like ‘hey dude are you doing nothing at home? Come over and record. He really pushed me.”
Who were your inspirations?
“John Mayer, James Taylor, and Band of Horses.”
What are your aspirations?
“I wanna sell over 300 copies by spring. I want to eventually start playing a lot more shows, move up to a full band, and start going on small one-two week long tours that lead up to maybe month long tours. I’ve actually been talking to the guy form Warner Bros. and some booking agencies recently.”
What is your favorite song from your album?
“All of My Fears”
What instruments do you play?
“Guitar, drums, bass, I sing. I can pretty much do anything that’s required in a band.”
How old were you when you started getting involved with music?
“I’d always done chorus in Elementary School and Middle School. It wasn’t until 7th grade that I picked up a guitar and was like ‘Oh my gosh, it’s a guitar’. I started taking the class in 7th grade, and in 8th grade I progressed so much that I got offered to be an aide for the class. Towards the middle of Middle school I started writing my first two songs – which by the way are When Your Heart is Home and First Catch. Then I just started writing, writing, writing, and perfecting. Now here I am.”
How do your family and friends feel about your music?
“My family and friends are really supportive. A lot of my friends were the first ones to buy the album. My family really likes it. I kind of kept it on the down low until it came out and I posted a status like ‘hey come check out my album’ and people started freaking out. It appeared on Spotify the next day. Everyone has been really supportive though.”
