My Experience with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Last weekend, I went to Disney for the first time in 5 years. I also had the opportunity to go to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for the first time. I had never been before and didn’t know what to expect. Honestly, I was mostly nervous about how busy it was going to be. Now, after going, I am for sure going next year!

The Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party starts at 4 p.m. and lasts till midnight. When you walk in, the park is covered in spooky and overall autumn decorations, with festive pumpkins awaiting you past the front gates. During the event, guests are welcomed and encouraged to wear costumes. I saw so many wholesome family costumes at the event. In fact, even some of the mascots wore costumes! For example, Winnie and Friends all had costumes on, Eeyore was a clown!

My favorite thing about the event was that my original assumptions were false. The park was not as crowded in comparison to usual attendance. For instance, the longest line I saw was for Space Mountain, which was 30 minutes.

I also really liked that the park had special upgrades for rides during the event. Like on Space Mountain, it was pitch black to be spookier and the Mad Tea Party had a fog machine. Additionally, around the park there were stations to get candy. Throughout my night, I got two bags full of candy. There were other treats in the park, like a limited edition Zero the ghost dog popcorn bucket that glows.

Overall, I had a great night and was able to partake in Halloween festivities without being scared. I loved it.
