The USF Tampa campus had a different feel this weekend as students and residents from the bay area ditched the green and gold and flaunted red for Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. The atmosphere was as beautiful as the weather Saturday as thousands of walkers and volunteers gathered for the 5K walk. Once striders finished their walk, they were treated to live entertainment, take-home goodies provided by Walgreens, got to meet Buccaneers cheerleaders and walk around the many booths there. Onlookers even had a chance to be screened for diabetes, participate in research conducted by USF students, and check out interesting gadgets aimed at saving lives of people with diabetes. Overall, the turnout and money raised by each group was fantastic. Here are a few photos from the event:
