‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ Release

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well as weā€™re in the homestretch of the first semester! This week, I wanted to write about how I went back into a Hunger Games spiral after hearing that The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes came out on November 17th. To be completely transparent, my entire TikTok For You page is just people delving into each character in the Hunger Games franchise and I have never been more invested. The newest movie, which serves as a prequel to the Hunger Games books and movies by Suzanne Collins, has been highly anticipated since its announcement. Its budget was reportedly $100 million and focuses mostly on President Snowā€™s background and love story as he falls for Lucy Gray. Gray is the victor of the 10th annual Hunger Games, and Snow serves as a mentor for her in this time. This backstory, as well as admittedly watching the trailer more times than I can count, has increased my anticipation for this movie. Not to mention, Miss Olivia Rodrigo has dropped a song for the movieā€™s soundtrack which makes it exponentially better. Honestly, I completely forgot about all of the Hunger Games lore up until this movie announcement, but now I am ready to grab all of my friends and sprint to the movie theater on the 17th. For all of the Hunger Games fans out there, take some self care time to care for your inner child and rewatch all of your favorite movies in the series and re-read the novels if you have time. I will definitely be watching The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes at my local theater and hope you all have fun if you decide to do so too!
