“Whatever happened to predictability? The milkman, the paper boy, evening T.V.?”

We all remember the introduction to the show Full House that made us so happy. When it came on television, I would automatically start singing the entire song. This show aired from 1987 to 1995. So if you did not grow up watching reruns, here’s a little synopsis.
Danny Tanner, father of three girls, finds out his wife died in a car accident and asks his brother-in-law, Jesse, and best friend, Joey, to help him raise his daughters. After a while, the family grows together and becomes close. With their dad as a neat freak, Jesse as a rock musician and Joey as a stand-up comedian, the girls really learn different aspects of life. The girls learn a lesson in each episode due to an event that happened. Danny always told them he loved them and reassured the girls that they are good people. (Almost every ending was a bit of a tear jerker). The youngest was Michelle, played by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson. The middle sister was Stephanie, played by Jodie Sweetin; and the oldest was DJ (Donna Jo), who was played by Candace Cameron.
Little Stephanie’s catchphrase was “How rude!” and she would say it to anyone on the show that did not listen to her or give her what she wanted. She suffered from middle child syndrome, as DJ grew to be too cool to play with her and Michelle always bothered her and got her way. With this being the issue, I remember Stephanie thinking she was never loved as much as her sisters so she threatened to run a way a lot. Especially in the episode where she crashes Joey’s new car into the house and immediately packs a bag to run away. Stephanie was dramatic at times, but that was her character.
.
While watching certain episodes where Michelle was in a lot of scences, I am sure people tried figuring out which Olson twin was acting at the moment. I know I wondered who was on when. Not even the twins are sure of who is who. They recently were interviewed on Ellen Degeneres discussing the beginning of their careers on Full House. In the interview, they were shown pictures and could not tell the difference in some of them. Michelle’s catchphrase was “You got it dude,” and she was absolutely adorable. Everyone on the show fell in love with her right away.
I am sure you have seen the commercial with the extremely attractive John Stamos for Greek Yogurt. Well Stamos played Jesse, who looked up to Elvis Presley a little too much. He usually entertained the girls by singing them to bed and such. He loved his hair and his guitar very much, and his catchphrase was “Have Mercy.” Jesse got married to Rebecca, played by Lori Loughlin, and they had twins together – Nicky and Alex.

Then there was Joey, played by Dave Coulier, who was such a clown at times. He imitated cartoons and was very good at it, too. He made it his mission to make the girls laugh almost every episoe! Jesse gave him a hard time for being such a goof ball. Danny, on the other hand, liked it and would attempt to be as funny, but it awkwardly did not work. There was one episode where Joey got his head stuck in a counter and he was just hilarious!
Danny Tanner, played by Bob Saget, was by far the corniest character in the show. He dressed proper and would never get the jokes Jesse and Joey would say. His idea of fun was cleaning the house and organizing the chore list for the girls. The girls would be embarrassed by poor Danny in public, too. Saget was a funny stand-up comedian and is still successful to this day. There was an episode where DJ was learning how to drive and of course Danny needed to be controlling and teach her how to drive the most safe way possible. I am so glad my parents were not this stressful when I was learning how to drive!
DJ, played by Candace Cameron, from time to time would be doing her own thing with her best friend Kimmy, who no one really liked. Being the oldest she got it worst from her dad and uncles. They used to say that they “trusted” her and she “should have known better.” Cameron actually continued being successful in her life but in a different way. This back-in-the-day show usually airs on Nick at Nite, so you should definitely check it out and remember the good old days from the 90s!
