We’ve all been there at one point or another. You find yourself starting to prioritize the needs of others over your own; it’s a vicious cycle. Never turning down an offer to help someone, whether or not you’re being rewarded, can be exhausting.
I’m here to tell you: give it a rest. You will truly benefit from implementing self-care into your lifestyle every single day whether this be in the form of taking time to yourself or discovering new hobbies. You’ll find that taking care of yourself before others is in your best interest. Besides, you can’t give your all to someone if you’re not doing so for yourself.
In my own life, I have found that prioritizing alone time has allowed me to arrange my weekly schedule in such a way that allows for self-reflection. In addition, I’ve been able to return to old hobbies which I’ve been too busy to incorporate into my lifestyle as of late like painting, playing guitar, or even journaling.
All in all, remaining intentional with the time you spend alone and utilizing said time to your advantage will prove to be beneficial in the long run. You will find that you have become stronger at arranging your own schedule, and saying no to people does not prove to be the challenge it once was.
It is okay to put yourself first. You deserve it.
