Broadway Bulls: Ready to Showcase Your Talent?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

With such a versatile mix of people around campus at USFSP, clubs and organizations are an essential part of our college experience. Trying to find the perfect club that fits your outside interests, or even something pertaining to your choice in career can be very overwhelming. Fortunately, being creative in our own special way and enjoying a good laugh is something most all of us college kids can say we all truly have in common. Slowly but surely, Broadway Bulls is back and making its name across campus; creating a whole new name to the field of “theater.”

The wonderful leader of Broadway Bulls, Steven Bird, Junior, highly encourages creativity and creates a very comfortable atmosphere regardless of if one has theater experience or is completely new to any aspect of theater. “The improv show is just the beginning. When you have something that you are passionate about, you want to see it succeed, and that’s what I hope for Broadway Bulls. It’s a place where you can be yourself; you don’t need to know how to act, or sing, or dance; bring your talent. It’s an outlet, a way to express who you are in a place that is accepting”, Bird confesses.

As mentioned, the cool thing about this organization is that a role can be found for every single member, whether you want to help with the technical aspects of an event or a play, or even want to be a performer—actor, singer, dancer, etc—. Going to each club meeting and even acting as an audience member watching improv sketches is another awesome way to show support to Broadway Bulls, and will definitely provide you with a laugh, or maybe even two.

With already establishing such dedicated members, Broadway Bulls recently put on an improv show based off the comedy series, “Whose Line Is It Anyways?” which took off and had a very pleasant landing. For those who don’t know, improvisation—improv—is something that you go into with no knowledge of what your audience will throw at you as both a character and location. Each member of Broadway Bulls was expected to feed off their audience to the absolute best of their ability. A bigger crowd then anticipated attended the improvisational show, and talk finally began to rise about the successful event put on Broadway Bulls. Let’s not forget, they even raffled off “Book of Moron” tickets, one of the most popular Broadway shows out right now.

Are you ready to stop by a meeting yet and share some laughs with some really cool people? With events such as “Death Aboard the Duchess”—murder mystery dinner show—, a future dance competition, another Improv show, and a hopeful spring musical, Broadway Bulls needs all the members they can get! Step out of your comfort zone, and check out one of the meetings every Monday and Thursday from 5-7 pm in Davis 130. You might find that you are a lot more talented then you have given yourself credit for, whether it be you are secretly good at playing an instrument, dancing, improving, acting, singing, or even artistically talented with set designs or makeup. Once again, I highly encourage all of you guys to stop in to a meeting and give it a chance, I can guarantee you will leave entertained.

Hey guys! I'm Samantha and I'm a sophomore here at USFSP. I'm currently a Mass Communications major and an International Business minor. This is going to be my first semester with HerCampus! I'm eager to contribute some entertaining stories for all you readers out there. My last two years of high school, I was editor of my school's yearbook, so I've got a good deal of experience with writing stories about almost anything and being as creative as possible. My ideal dream would probably be to hold a career in fashion advertising, so I feel like this magazine will definitely be a huge benefit for me. I look forward to working with the awesome people who create USFSF HerCampus, and I hope you all enjoy everything we put together for you to read this year! :) XOXO
A Mass Communications Major with a passion for inspiring others.Â
