While Alyssa Winston may only be 4’11, her ambitions are high. There is no question why she is this week’s Campus Celebrity. Alyssa moved to St. Petersburg from Parkland, FL, to pursue a degree at USFSP. During her years here, she has become involved in a plethora of student organizations making her an important member of the USFSP community. Get to know Alyssa below!

What year are you (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior)?
Junior
Why did you decide to go to USFSP?
I took a tour of USF and fell in love, but was very overwhelmed at the size. My mom suggested we take a look at USFSP and I thought “this could do for a year”. So I planned on going here for a year and then transferring to Tampa, but after orientation I knew this was the place for me.
What’s your major?
Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, minor in Legal Studies
What’s your greatest memory at USFSP?
My greatest memory was winning Freshman Student Leader, because I had never thought of myself as a leader before that night. That moment really made me proud of myself and I always look back at that night for inspiration.
What’s your favorite thing to do on campus?
My favorite thing is doing orientations, because I get to work with some of my best friends while helping new students become Bulls. I love talking to new and current students.

In what ways are you involved on campus?
I am a tour guide, Head Orientation Leader, I work for Student Government, Campus Recreation, I am the Vice President for the Baseball Team, I am an ambassador and I am on the executive board for Hillel.
What’s your favorite part about working on campus?
In all of my jobs I get to show how much pride I have in being a USFSP Bull and I get to help better the school and the students in some way or another.
What do you do when you’re not on campus?
I hangout with my boyfriend a lot. We like to go to the beach, hangout with our friends, go downtown, I also enjoy watching his baseball games. And I love going to eat with my friends.
