Reggae music filled the crisp, Wednesday night air.
Â
Dirty Heads filled Jannus Live with music from their old and newest albums. SWIM TEAM, the latest  album from the band was released earlier this month.Their fall tour to promote the album kicked off in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl on the 24th of October.
Â
I attended the second date of the tour in St. Petersburg, Fl.
Â
The doors to the show opened and the crowd flooded in to find the best spot to watch the show.
Â
My friend and I stood front and center. We had a perfect view of the stage.
Â
One of my favorite parts of the event was the band Tyrone’s Jacket, coming out early to cleanse the stage with some sage. The crowd cheered him on as he waved the sage around, letting the smoke envelop the area.
Â
A few minutes later, Tyrone’s Jacket opened up the show. Ironically, the lead singer started  off wearing a leather jacket but soon took  it of to show off his perfectly chiseled abdomen. He jumped, kneeled, and ran around the stage, hyping up the crowd..
Â
Â
After their set ended, The Unlikely Candidates took to the stage. Lead vocalist Kyle Morris graced the stage with a broken leg. He surprised everyone, including himself, with how he managed to move around the stage without falling. I spoke to him after the show and he commented on the fact that he will have the cast on for at least six weeks. Mad props to Morris for fighting through the pain to put on a killer set.
Â
Â
As the night went on, the crowd grew more anxious to see Dirty Heads. The crew worked hard and quickly to change out everything needed for the headlining band.
Â
Dirty Heads started with a performance of “Medusa”, an older song from one of their first albums . Everyone was on stage except for Dirty J, who made a side entrance when the lyrics to the song began. Fans screamed and roared.
Â
The smell of cigarettes and smoke filled the air. Everyone was enjoying the opening song.
Â
Â
But then the pushing and shoving began.
Â
I looked back and a group of guys were throwing punches, yelling out slurs, and shoving those around them. Security quickly jumped over the gates and pushed fans back so they could get to the instigators. They pulled the men apart and escorted them out. The band continued on as if nothing had happened. As the saying goes: “The show must go on.”
Â
They ended their performance by throwing shirts, drumsticks, and water into the crowd. A remix of one of their songs played over the speakers as they bowed and thanked fans for coming out.
Â
The fall 2017 tour continues through November.
