What we want and what we need doesn’t always line up.
I wanted you, yet you didn’t want me.
We met at a time that you still didn’t know what you wanted.
I knew I was ready for something that meant more than just friends.
A real man wouldn’t play with my feelings just for a fun time.
If you were actually serious about us, you would have shown it by now.
For now, I’m doing my best to grow into the woman I’m meant to be.
I know I’ll stumble and fall, but there’s something to be learned from it all.
Maybe you’ll see in me what you wanted all along.
But I won’t beg, I won’t press, I won’t fall to my knees.
Maybe one day you’ll realize the error of your ways
or maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.
But either way, I’ll continue to grow.
Maybe we’ll meet again sometime, later down the road.
But, if it’s not in the stars for us to be,
I’ll guess I’ll finally accept that when the right one comes along.
He’ll see in me what you couldn’t.
Or better yet, what you chose to ignore.
For now, I’ll just wait and see.
