13 Things Every Salt Lake City Resident Understands

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Oh Salt Lake City, you beautiful smoggy little place nestled in between some of the nation’s most beautiful mountains. Whether you just moved here for school and skiing, or you’re a born and raised “Salt Lake-ian,” there are just certain things that are a common understanding to everyone who calls this lovely city home.

You have very strong opinions about which late night pizza place is the best: The Pie or The Pie Hole

Regardless of which place has better pizza, The Pie definitely takes the cake when it comes to the cheese pull apart.

You know that anyone who’s hip lives in either the Aves or Sugarhouse

The “cool” neighborhoods.

You intrinsically hate that school down south…BYU (more like BY-ew)

Gross.

You also cringe anytime you’re even near Provo

Even more gross.

Every spring, you anxiously await the Twilight Concert Series line up

Because you know it will be fire.  And even if it’s not, a five dollar concert is always a good time.

The lights at Temple Square make the best holiday date night

And you have to gram it so people know you went.

You know that City Creek is way better than The Gateway but you stoop to go to The Gateway for Urban Outfitters and Victoria’s Secret

If City Creek had Urban and VS, it would be the perfect one stop shop. A girl can dream right?

You know what Hobbitville and “Emo’s Grave” are

If you’re a true Salt Lake dweller, you’ve snuck into Hobbitville and you’ve walked backwards around Emo’s Grave three times in an attempt to see Emo’s ghost.

You’re proud to live in the City where High School Musical was filmed

Because we’re all in this together, am I right?!

One word: Hires.

The burgers, the rootbeer, THE FRY SAUCE.

You’re also proud of the fact that you’re minutes away from some of the country’s best ski resorts

Park City, Snowbird, Alta…just to name a few.

You know that The Park Café is well worth the wait on a Sunday morning

And if the wait is too long, you can always take a walk around beautiful Liberty Park in Sugarhouse.

You know someone who owns a “SL,UT” shirt

Who are we kidding? You own an SL,UT shirt.  It may be overdone, but hey, it’s still kind of funny, right guys?

In the end, the number one thing anyone who’s a proud member of the Salt Lake community knows is that we are all blessed to live in this great city.
