6 Reasons Brendon Urie is Too Perfect for Words

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

If you’re like me, Brendon Urie is one of your favorite people on the planet for a multitude of reasons and this list will just reaffirm everything you already knew about him. If you’ve never heard of Brendon Urie, sit back and let me tell you why he should become one of your favorite people on the planet.

1. He plays four instruments damn near perfectly.

At a Panic! at the Disco concert, one can expect to see Brendon Urie switching between singing, guitar, bass, piano, and drums; sometimes in the course of one song. He says he learned music from a Weezer cassette tape that he stole from his older sister.

2. He advocated for LGBTQ+ rights in the sassiest way possible.

Panic!’s 2013 album, Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die! contained a song entitled “Girls/Girls/Boys” which was written about Urie’s first threesome and aims to inspire openness about sexuality. When the band was set to perform this album and song in Kansas City, Missouri in 2014, the Westboro Baptist Church started protesting the concert and the band itself and made public their plans to picket the event. In response, Panic! tweeted that “Today @WBCSays is going to picket us. For every member of WBC that actually shows up we will donate $20 to @HRC [the Human Right Campaign],” After the church could only gather 13 protesters (not counting the “myriad of angels” they claimed), Brendon deemed $260 not enough and donated an even $1000 to the HRC. Take that, homophobes.

3. He’s taking on Broadway this summer.

In case you’re one of the few people who hasn’t heard, Brendon Urie is taking on the big stage as the star of Kinky Boots. From May 26th-August 6th, you can see Urie as Charlie Price (“Plus you guys get to see me in heels now, so that’s pretty cool!”).

4. He pulls off look after look with ease.

Long-time fans remember mid-2000’s Urie with the very MySpace hair and dark eyeliner growing into the even more swoon-worthy Brendon we know today.

I mean, how adorable can a person be?

5. He had the dreamiest wedding of all time.

On April 27, 2013, Urie married Sarah Orzechowski in Malibu. Beautiful flowers, an adorable photo booth, and the members of Fall Out Boy as groomsmen: what more could you ask for?

6. He supported LGBTQ+ people after a tragedy.

Following the Pulse shooting in Orlando in 2016, Panic! at the Disco and fellow touring band, Weezer held a blood drive for the surviving victims before their sold out concert.

After the success of the blood drive, the band also released this shirt to raise money for the victims.

Even if you’re not a part of the pop-punk craze, it’s hard not to adore Brendon Urie for his humor, compassion, and dashing good looks. If you’re looking for a good starter song to get you into Panic!, take a look at This is Gospel or Death of a Bachelor. Happy fangirling!
