Become The Mermaid You’re Meant To Be In 2016

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

No matter what age you are, we all have some sort of fascination with mermaids. Whether it be their perfectly tousled hair, their shiny scales, or their sleek movement through the glistening waves, mermaids have something to captivate everyone. If you’re one of the lucky few who is a mermaid trapped in a human’s body, this article is for you.  Make your New Years Resolution to become more like a mermaid. Here are some products that can help you unleash your inner mermaid in the upcoming year.

1) Mermaids are able to do whatever they want, whenever they want.  Unfortunately, you’re a mermaid stuck in a human body, so you actually have to wake up and accomplish things.  Use this magical mug to start your day with mermaids on your mind.

2) Every mermaid needs a makeup bag to hide her gizmos and gadgets.  But remember, you’re a mermaid, so your natural beauty shines brighter than any makeup ever could.

3) Mermaids love anything that sparkles.  This eye shadow has the perfect amount of shimmer to make your eyes shine, and has the cutest name too: Mississippi Mermaid! Clearly meant for the flawless mermaid that you are!

4) It’s tragic really, the fact that you’re a mermaid trapped on land.  This bracelet can be the perfect reminder of what your beautiful scales look like, and it won’t tarnish or fall off while you’re swimming around under the sea.

5) Since you’re a fantastic creature of fantasy, you obviously have the voice of a siren.  Store your magical talent in this to protect it from an evil sea witch.

6) Just in case people are unsure of your inner mermaid, wear this shirt to let the whole world know just how special you really are.

7) If you’re unlucky enough to live in a landlocked state, the closest thing you have to the ocean is a bath.  At the end of the day when you need to unwind and let your tail out, try these bath bombs to transform your dull bath into the deepest regions of the sea!

8) Finally, no mermaid is complete without perfectly messy mermaid hair.  You could go for a dramatic pastel color, or keep it a bit more toned down with chalk colored tips.

Remember, embracing your true mermaid self doesn’t only come from possessing objects that remind you of the ocean. Being a mermaid happens through steadfast resolute that mermaids are real, and that they are the single greatest thing on this earth.

Stay bubbly my mermaid friends.

I have a deep love for mermaids, pitbulls, swearing, and all things involving food.  Shania Twain is my spirit animal and I'm a converted Belieber.
