As the weather begins to change so must our wardrobes, and this spring is one for the books! I know many of us think dressing for the winter and summer couldn’t be more opposite: heavy, dark fabrics for the former and light-colored wispy little pieces for warmer days. Good news collegiettes: this season proves to be a lot more versatile. Below, HC Utah has the breakdown of the newest spring trends, and a few of them may surprise you.
Â
1. Bermuda Shorts (especially in pastels): Alright, you’re not surprised YET. Bermuda shorts are apparently back, although due to personal bias I will not be rocking these. For the rest of you, you have my blessing.
Â
2. Patterned jeans and leggings: I am so incredibly happy these are still in because I’ve been living in patterned jeans every day for the last six months. One of the easiest ways to transition this trend from winter to spring is to change up the pattern: switch that brocade and snakeskin for more whimsical flowery print and polka dots, and you’re set! 3. Black and white: Generally we associate black with winter and a sneaky way to absorb the most sunlight as possible on those freezing winter days (I knew that high school science class would come in handy one day!) Black and white is a super classy combo and looks great as pants with a stripe along the side or on collared blouses, purses, and jackets.
Â
4. Leather: Now here’s the kicker. Leather? In the spring? We’re not kidding! Leather gives off that priceless badass vibe, and what better time to rock it than on a hot date (pun intended) or an outdoor concert? If you’re not into leather jackets, try it on a handbag or as an accent to one of your accessories. Ease yourself into it, and remember to wear what’s comfortable for you.
