The entry way to college is the exit way for long, peaceful nights of sleep. Think of the last time you had a full night’s sleep without worrying about how early you need to wake up to finish last minute assignments, or how late you needed to stay up to cram for your midterm exam the next day.
One thing’s for certain: when it comes to getting the extra hours of sleep your body needs, the first thing to go are your classes. We’ve all skipped our fair share of morning classes so we could spend a few extra hours in bed to let our brains and bodies recuperate. It’s hard to find a balance between your crazy sleep schedule and school. But when you finally find your balance you have hit the jackpot and are on the path of becoming a successful student!
If you are like me and have given up on trying to get a full 8 hours of sleep every night then you probably know the secret to functioning during the day with a few hours of sleep. NAPS! I know it sounds very childlike, but it works. Taking a nap during the day helps you stay alert and energetic. Rather than
caving and resorting to a coffee binge to stay awake during the day, take a nap. It’s healthier for you in the long run, and your body will appreciate it.
The University of Utah is a large campus so you can easily find a small corner for yourself to doze off in. Don’t shy away from finding a place and just taking over: college is nap central. You can find someone in almost every corner of the library or Union building taking their daily nap. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a nap in the Union food court, or the student lounge, you can even try joining someone taking a nap already! (As long as you know them. I do NOT advise trying to cuddle up to a perfect stranger, no matter how cute he is). Do whatever you have to do to get your nap for the day, ’cause there’s no better way to sneak in those extra zzz’s!
