Taylor Swift’s Mom is Diagnosed With Cancer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Taylor Swift, who’s known for bonding and having an amazing relationship with her fans, told some heartbreaking news on her Tumblr. Taylor revealed to her fans that her mother has cancer. No details have been released on the severity or type with Taylor saying, “I’d like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private.”

The Tumblr post, titled “Just so you know…”, included a story of Taylor asking her mom to go to the doctor and get checked as a Christmas present to her. Her mom did just that. Taylor said, “There were no red flags and she felt perfectly fine, but she did it just to get me and my brother off her case about it.” Also adding,Ā Ā “The results came in, and Iā€™m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer.”Ā

Even during this tough time, Taylor and her mom showed just how selfless they are by saying, “She wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything theyā€™ve got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battleā€¦ Or peace of mind in knowing that theyā€™re healthy and thereā€™s nothing to worry about. She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour. Sheā€™s got an important battle to fight.”

Our hearts go out to Taylor, her mother, and her family during this time. We hope for nothing but the best!
