Oh, hi! My name is Elle Woods, and for my admission’s essay I’m going to tell all of you at Harvard why I’m going to make an amazing lawyer. Just kidding, my name is Emilie Trepanier, and for my article I’m going to tell all of you collegiettes why I’m striving you be a little legally blonde, and why you should too.
Elle Woods is such a strong female character that she inspired a musical, featuring her famously taught Bend-and-Snap. She is truly kind to everyone, and her character is always mindful of others’ feelings. When the nerdy guy is being rejected by a hot girl, Elle makes him look like a king. If that scene didn’t impact your view of being nice for no selfish reason before, it should now.
Elle worked her tail off to get into Harvard Law School. She does this completely independent and while dealing with a heartbreak. If you strive to be a little legally blonde, you will get into Harvard Law School. Fact. Â
Our blonde BFF used her anger to motivate her. In general, anger tends to be a pretty useless feeling. Instead of wallowing in sadness for weeks on end, Elle aced the LSATS. Instead of dropping out of Harvard when she was picked on by Warner’s fiancée and told she would never be good enough for him, she bought herself a laptop and got to work.
She turns in scented resumes. What a trademark.
The woman takes care of her body, dresses to the nines, and finds time to study – she literally does it all. I’ve never tried the whole reading a textbook while on the elliptical thang out of fear of flying off but Elle does it effortlessly. She keeps her mind and her body in shape.
Elle Woods breaks stereotypes. Who knew a girl so into fashion actually has quick-wit and a deep mind? This Gemini with a perfect tan can walk in heels and hold her own in an argument. Remember when she called Vivian a “frigid bi*ch?” Or when she waltzed right up to Warner and said “Remember when we spent those four, amazing hours in the hot tub after winter formal? This is so much better than that?” Bend and SNAAAAP!
She taught me this very important life lesson:
Even when Elle was told by her teachers, ex-boyfriend and even parents that she was not Harvard material, she didn’t give up on herself. If we all used our own personal knowledge of self-worth as a motivator, we’d live more fulfilling lives.
All in all, Elle Woods is the girl we want to be best friends, the girl we all want to be, and the woman we should strive to be like. Of course we want to always remember to be ourselves, but a role model like Elle makes a good improvement.
