Five Amazing and Affordable Styling Products For Curly/Wavy hair

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utica chapter.

As someone with 2C wavy hair who gets knots like they’re being given out on sale, it can be a struggle to find products to tame this wild, frizzy, big mess. Especially finding products that are curly/wavy girl approved (all of these are) but now that the market is catering to our hair types there are more life saving products. So, here’s to my 2c-4c haired girls that are figuring it out!!

1. Garnier Whole Blends Olive Oil Leave in Conditioner

This stuff is amazing and is ultra-hydrating and smells amazing and oil is essential for the thirsty waves and coils. This product is five bucks and a lifesaver leaving your hair soft and shiny!!

2. OGX Moroccan Curling Perfection Defining Cream

Okay, I said the last product was amazing, but this is equally amazing, but I recommend putting it on wet hair and scrunching the hair as you apply. It leaves your hair amazingly soft and fluffy and the best part, no frizz!

3. Shea Moisture Coconut and hibiscus curl and style milk

This a bit more expensive but all their products are worth the investment and for this a little goes a long way. It leaves your hair soft, shiny, and beautifully curled/waveified.

4. Frizz Ease Dream Curls Air Dry Waves Styling Foam or Curl Reviver Mousse

This product does not leave your hair hard which is hard to find if your hair does not respond to moose or gel. It leaves your hair soft and your waves sturdy. The Curl reviver mousse leaves your curls beautifully curly and touchable.

5. Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel

This gel creates a light and strong hold leaving your hair soft and beautiful, the smell is great too.

I hope these recommendations help but these are just some drugstore products that can save your curls/waves in case of emergencies.

Meet Bianca, I am currently a Junior at Utica College in Utica, NY.  I am a Criminal Justice major with a concentration in Homeland Security.  Crime investigation has always been something that interests me.  I’m dedicated and passionate and it’s hard for me to quit things. I get that from my father so don’t hold it against me- he was a veteran and police officer for 20 years.   Growing up in a family centered around law enforcement has helped guide me in this direction, and I will forever be grateful.  After graduation I intend to continue on to law school where I can further my education in hopes of becoming a criminal defense lawyer and later on a District Attorney.  An interesting fact about myself is that I found the passion to be a criminal defense lawyer from watching the O.J. Simpson case.  The facts and conspiracy theories evoked a whole new passion behind criminal investigation that I intend to use in my future.  One of my most prominent moments in my writing career was when I wrote for an online magazine and had my most prevalent article hit 1.6k shares.  I believe in treating people with the same kind of respect and manners you would expect in return, and in a way it has helped shaped my expectations in life.   When you first meet me I won’t be the loudest in the room or the center of attention, but I will be intently listening to everything you say, for what you have to say may have a purpose. I believe in purpose. I believe that everyone is here to help you grow into who you are today and who you will be tomorrow.
