God’s Timing is Perfect Timing

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UTM chapter.

As humans, we want our plans to happen when we want them to happen. We want everything on our own time. If something doesn’t happen the way we want it to or when we want it to, we begin to make new plans to get what we want.

The problem with this method is that we are never going to be satisfied. Things will not happen quickly enough for us. We’re so used to the pace of this world where we can get nearly everything on demand, as soon as we want it. God doesn’t work that way, and God doesn’t work for us. Sometimes, that is a hard thing to accept. People nowadays lack patience, but patience is something we could all use some more of. Afterall, they say patience is a virtue.

God has His own plan for our lives, and He follows His plan. He is perfect and makes no mistakes, so we should trust in Him and the plan He has handcrafted for us. God’s timing is also perfect. He knows exactly when things in our life need to happen, and He makes sure they happen right on time. This means that we can’t rush God, even if we might want to sometimes.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). We have to be patient and wait on His timing. Also, we have to be satisfied with what we have and where we are in life. “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” (Hebrews 13:5). God is with us all the time, and we can count on His promises to be fulfilled.

The next time you’re rushing things along or trying to plan all the details of your life, take a step back and hand it over to God. He is omniscient, and He knows exactly what we need and when we need it. Sometimes He just requires that we have complete faith in Him and that we trust in His plan for our lives. Putting that trust in God will make your life so much easier. You will begin to see how everything falls into place and comes at the perfect time.

Romans 5:8  I attend the University of Tennessee at Martin as a Psychology major. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, reading books, and taking naps.
I am a pre-vet major who loves to laugh (especially at myself), drink coffee, and spend time with my dog, Cora. I moved from Massachusetts to Tennessee to attend college at UTM and compete for their division 1 rifle team.
