During vacations, I think ALL women can agree on how stressful and frustrating it can be to find a swimsuit that not only fits correctly but makes you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. For some women, swimsuit season can be a challenging time because of the unattainable beauty standards that today’s society has created at the hands of social media and pop culture. So, it is extremely important to remember that there is no such thing as a “bikini body” because every body type is deserving of being considered a bikini body. You should NEVER feel ashamed to wear a bikini because of your body type. Wear what YOU want and not what “fits” the beauty standard. With that being said, I have put together a list of swimsuit brands that are body positive and inclusive of all body types and sizes to check out before swimsuit season is officially back upon us on our next break.
1. Aerie
Aerie is one of the more well-known brands that have started to advertise their swimwear with models of all different shapes, colors, and sizes. They offer a wide range of different types of swimsuits depending on your preference and size. Aerie’s mission is to make every girl feel good while wearing their swimwear, and they overall are doing a great job with the amount of diversity being displayed for their brand.
2. Swimsuits for all
If you could not already tell by their name, Swimsuits For All is devoted to providing all women with a swimsuit that fits their bodies comfortably and confidently. They have an array of different types of swimsuits ranging from one-pieces, swim dresses, tankinis, bikinis, and cover-ups. Swimsuits For All also ensures that their sizes are not limited by providing women who are plus-sized with the same amount of swimwear options as those who are not.
3. Frankiesbikinis
Frankiesbikinis is a swimwear brand that gained attention on the social media platform Instagram. With their popularity still growing, they have crushed the beauty standard by using their Instagram to advertise their swimwear being worn on a diversity of unedited female models. Frankiesbikinis truly shows it all and offers their customers a sense of realness by choosing not to edit out things like stretch marks or cellulite.
4. Kitty and vibe
Kitty and Vibe is the first swimwear company to make their bottoms based on the size of your butt rather than solely based on your hip measurements. This has paved the way for women who struggle with finding flattering bottoms to finally have an option for the amount of bottom coverage they want. By doing this, Kitty and Vibe are solidifying that all their customers have the ability to be comfortable in their own skin while wearing a swimsuit.
5. Adore me
Adore Me began as a lingerie company and now has branched into swimwear for all sizes of women. The choice of their name derives from the definition of “adore”, meaning to love and respect someone, which is exactly what they want for all of their customers. Adore Me wants every woman to embrace their true self without having to worry about unrealistic beauty standards. Because of this, they provide a range of sizes and types of swimsuits for women to freely choose from.
