One of my most favorite things to do throughout my day is to look at daily affirmations. I have my own new affirmations board on Pinterest to give myself a friendly reminder that I can do anything that I put my mind to. Life is not easy, especially when we are feeling overwhelmed. Nothing seems to get easier on us when we are feeling down. Therefore, I always try my hardest to remind myself of how capable I am to do anything I desire to do. In moments of desperation, these are the most essential. They are able to offer you reassurance at any time of day. Let this act of kindness be something for you, from you.
1.Create your own Pinterest board
I personally have my own Pinterest board of affirmations that I refer to when I feel like I need motivation. I have several boards that I fill with affirmations, memes, or really anything that lifts my spirits. I highly recommend it for your moments of downtime. You have to try and find ways to motivate yourself, especially when you have so much going on academically and personally. I even created a vision board that holds a collage of pictures that I hope to accomplish in time. This helps motivate me to continue forward despite the off-days. I even took it up a notch and printed out a lot of my favorite affirmations to paste on my “wall of daily motivation” which is right next to my bed. I see it every morning, afternoon, and night for the purpose of lifting my spirits at all times of the day.
2.Listen or watch
Listening to a podcast or watching a youtube video from a motivational speaker is also another great way to get fuel for the day. I love to put on a podcast on my way to or from class, or when I have a break. Before going to bed is also another great time to listen.
3. Fill your Feed
Another tip is to create a positive environment on your social media platforms. I know that some things that come up are unavoidable, but there is a way to help prevent the negativity. I started to curate my feed by following a lot of inspirational/motivational pages. They fuel my feed by having that up-lifting feeling from the posts that I see. After you create this sort of environment you start to see less negativity and more positivity.
4. Surround yourself with the right
I know we’ve heard it a million times already, but just for reassurance purposes. Surround yourself with good people (yes, I meant that). It is important to read people’s vibe and never ignore the red flags. This applies to everyone. People that care about you will show you without hesitation. Take care of yourself and don’t drag yourself through the mud for people that could care less about you. It is truly mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausting, so avoid it at all costs.
4. Self-care
In reality, when you are your own motivation and implement these daily habits, it turns into self-care. Only YOU have authority over yourself. Own yourself, queen. Motivate yourself to do better and be better for your sake. Go shopping, get your nails done, lashes done, or whatever makes you feel good, and speak good words over yourself. The way you speak to yourself matters. You are *chef’s kiss* so start treating yourself like it.
5. My Final Tip
Be the change that you desire to have. If you want to start building these motivational habits for yourself then I highly recommend that you be that motivation not only to yourself but others. Play a part in helping someone else. Post a motivational quote or anything that you find uplifting in spirit. I promise that at least one person will see that post and reflect on it. 1 out of 1000 or 200 or 500, who cares? You might have just made that person’s day by simply posting something that you enjoyed reading. Contribute to the positivity that you expect to come around.
