A fact that has always irked me is that UVACollab does not have a phone app. Canvas, and probably every other similar program ever, has an app that makes it super quick to check grades or due dates or whatever you need. UVA, on the other hand, uses the one website that is not yet in the 21st century. I’m sure we can all relate to the anxiety that comes with having to take the extra few seconds to type the website into Safari when a stressful exam grade was just released. So, here’s how to avoid that.
- Go to uvacollab.com on your phone
-
First, type into Safari (probably for the last time ever, you’re welcome) the link for Collab. Here; I’ll even save you some time… UVACollab.com
- Click the box with the arrow at the bottom of the screen.
-
At the bottom of the screen, there will be an icon that looks like a box with an arrow coming out of the top of it. Click it! A list of options should come up.
- Click “Add to Home screen”
-
On the list of options, select “Add to Home Screen.” This will create an “app” that, when pressed, will send you directly to UVACollab, bypassing all the extra typing you usually have to do. It’s not an app in that it has any more mobile-friendly features than it did before, but at least it is now way more accessible.
Maybe the rest of the world knew this and I just didn’t, but I thought I’d share this little trick to save those out there who hadn’t thought to do this! Happy Fall semester BFF’s <3
