I am originally from San Diego and have lived there my whole life until I moved to Charlottesville for college. I absolutely love Charlottesville and UVA but coming from a city with so much to do, living near the beach, and having a car I have found that grounds can sometimes feel small especially during the colder winter months. Recently I have been trying to explore Charlottesville more and it has made UVA feel a lot bigger and less claustrophobic. Here are some fun spring activities on my bucket list!
- Crabtree Falls Hike: Crabtree Falls is a 2.5 mile hike that is about an hour away from grounds. The hike looks gorgeous and it is a great way to get outside, move your body, and get to explore the area around Charlottesville. Now that it is getting warmer, hiking is the perfect activity for spring.Â
- Having a picnic at different parks in Charlottesville. Charlottesville has so many beautiful parks and so many great restaurants. It is always fun to try a new restaurant and having a picnic is a great way to enjoy the warm weather and get off grounds.Â
- Go on a drive at Shenandoah National park. Shenandoah has beautiful roads that give you views of the gorgeous blue ridge mountains and Virginia countryside. There is nothing better than driving with friends, blasting music in the car, and looking at the beautiful Virginia scenery.Â
- Visit Monticello. Monticello has beautiful gardens and outdoor areas perfect to explore in the spring. The trees will be filled with leaves, the flowers in full bloom, and the sun will be shining bright on the gardens and Monticello. This would be the perfect spring activity and excuse to get of grounds.Â
