Getting in the Groove

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

Earthquake, hurricanes, and what? A reading quiz. Could the beginning of the school year really be starting off this way? I thought the worst had hit us (being shaken awake by a rattling earthquake, when you are deathly afraid of natural disasters, is never a good start to a year). But then out of nowhere the 500 pages of readings start to drown your life like a huge tsunami (cheesy I know), and you realize….its only the beginning! However, as I sat there stressing about the huge black hole of an academic semester I might begin falling in, I realized, should I really let stress take over my life? Maybe we should stop trying to dwell on the problems that face us and instead look to the end result of what we want to achieve. Yes I would love to be out dancing around, not giving a care about any priorities that I may have (other than looking very classy of course), but sometimes the small sacrifices you make will help you have an even bigger dance party in the future. There is nothing like celebrating an accomplishment, and the only way you can make sure to have the best celebration is to embrace the few sacrifices we have to make today. So ladies get on that treadmill and burn away that stress, because after hitting my 3 mile goal today, I felt like there was NOTHING I could not do….well maybe not the Econ problem I have been staring at for the past 20 minutes. Oh well!

But if working out isn’t your go to for de-cluttering your head from all that stress, maybe I could help clutter it with some celebrity gossip? (If that doesn’t interest you, than really I am left quite empty handed.)

Success in one place might lead to a little failure in other spots, as we can see by Marc and JLos confirmed separation. The two stars have been killing it in their careers, but its now obvious that the same progress wasn’t being made at home. Marc sat down to talk about the divorce for the first time with ABC New’s John Quinones and looks like the problem really just was that the marriage was a problem. As he said it simply no longer, “worked.” Guess some things are just to broken to be fixed, and hey, two hot single people on the market doesn’t seem like too much of a “failure” to me.

The Kardashians are facing a little bit of criticism (who doesn’t), as the statement they made for their new Sears brand came off a bit too…lets say, politically incorrect, for some people’s liking. The statement read: Join the stylishKardashian klan on September 6th at the private studio of the legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz for an exclusive preview of their fabulous new fashion Kollection for Sears. Its always fun to use a play on words but spelling clan with a K, might not be the best way to attract a crowd. Good job with all the hard work ladies, but maybe think about a PR agent with a bit sharper of an eye. Whoops!

Anyways, with all the craziness of the first week of school, the more information I divulge, the less work you will be getting done. So hit the books for a bit ladies, but in the end do not forget that YOU time is the only way to get through this already daunting semester. Life is way too short to expend all your energy on being stressed. We’re all doing the best that we can and we should embrace our efforts (even if that hardcore TA doesn’t). Look forward to sharing more news with you next week!
