I have been loving listening to podcasts recently, whether it’s on the treadmill, outside, while making dinner, or simply on my way to class. I’m able to get my necessary daily dose of pop culture, news, and trends when I listen to a podcast, without draining my iPhone battery, needing a visual, or watching a YouTube video. Here’s three that I believe are imperative you listen to right away, and guarantee that they will make some (or all) aspects of your life better.
- The Morning Toast
-
Known as the “millennial morning show,” The Morning Toast is hosted by two sisters, Claudia Oshry (@GirlWithNoJob) and Jackie Oshry (@JackieOProblems). They go live Monday through Friday, at 10:30am eastern, on YouTube, and a podcast is posted on the Podcast app shortly thereafter. They run on the Toast News Network, which produces a lot of other shows with different podcasters, about different content. However, if you need a daily dose of pop culture everyday, and have trouble sorting through what the most important celebrity news is that day, this podcast is for you. The Toast gives you the “fast five” stories you need to know that day, regarding business, celebrities, tv shows, movies, and anything else pop culture. Claudia and Jackie also frequently recap The Real Housewives franchises, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Riverdale, and so much more. Do yourself a favor and give them a listen, I promise you won’t regret it.
- Serial
-
If you haven’t heard of Serial, you might be living under a rock. I’m obsessed with the true crime genre, and the stories of Serial are definitely one to tune in for. Sarah Koenig, the host of the podcast, created Serial on the basis of Adan Syned’s case, who was famously accused for murdering his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. I’m not one to watch crime shows or scary movies centered on crime, but I’m down for this podcast!
- Adulting
-
I looooove a good form of media that addresses all things adulting – growing up, awkward questions, and how to function as an adult (something I still struggle with). The podcast is hosted by Jordan Carlos and comedian Michelle Buteau, who I saw earlier this year on Jonathan Van Ness’ (Queer Eye) tour. If you have questions on how exactly to be an adult, or just want to listen to some awkward and weird situations – this podcast’s for you.
