This past summer, a Costco finally opened in Charlottesville. Although it’s hidden behind construction, this warehouse store has drawn students and locals alike. Here are some things to consider when debating whether or not you (or your parents) should go to Costco:
1) Do you like trying new things?
Costco is famous for its abundance of *free* samples. The Charlottesville location is no different. If you’re more open to trying new foods, you could probably get almost a full meal out of those samples.
2) Do you mind eating the same foods consistently?
If you’re a person of habit, Costco is the place for you. Foods at Costco come in large quantities, so you should prepare to eat that jumbo bag of Tortellini for weeks. It’s also best to buy what you know you like (or try it as a sample!).
3) Do you have room for this much food?
If you’re stocking up on refrigerated or frozen foods, consider how much space you have in your refrigerator before deciding to stock up. Especially if you have roommates. Also, it’s probably best to think about where you’ll stock the pantry items.
4) Do you love getting deals?
If you don’t mind buying in bulk (or sharing your food), Costco has some great deals. Not to mention, their food court is oddly addicting and extremely cheap.
If you decide to check out Costco (highly recommended), you may end up leaving the store like this:
