My Life is GrUV: Have Your Best Semester Yet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVM chapter.

We all know how it goes; you come back to school nice and relaxed from a month off, with some ambitious goals for the new semester. You’re going to get good grades, have a killer social life, and look hot while doing it. After a week or two though, the hopes of a 4.0 slowly start to fall away, replaced with a new mantra, “C’s get degrees”, am I right? Well not this semester! This is the perfect semester to finally pass chemistry, and maybe even come out with a 4.0. Here are the perfect reasons for why you should make this semester your best one yet.

1.New Year, New You:

It’s 2015, shouldn’t you finally get your life together? This can definitely be your semester, and wouldn’t it be nice to finally keep a resolution? You can start small and resolve to start making it to those SI sessions, or aim high, and plan on getting good grades while also managing to have a social life.

2.It’s -2 degrees:

Leaving your dorm seems like a great idea, until you get outside and realize how cold it is. Why not save the energy your body is using to keep you warm and stay inside and study instead! This way you avoid frostbite, and you keep your grades up too.

3.You only have 4 years:

We only have a limited amount of time in school, so be sure to make the best of it! While Netflix marathons always seem like a great idea at the time, you finish them and have accomplished nothing. Instead, take this time to do something productive. Go skiing, try something new, or even do your homework! Anything is better than the shame and regret that comes with a 9 hour Netflix binge.

4.Mom & Dad:

Worrying about what your family will say when they see your grades is never fun, and can definitely help motivate you to have a great semester. That way, when summer comes you can be excited to go home instead of worrying about explaining your GPA away.

5.Post-grad life:

College is definitely the time to have fun and make friends, but in all seriousness, employers won’t hire you if it is obvious you goofed off every semester. By putting in the time and hard work needed to have an awesome semester you might manage to graduate with great memories AND a great GPA.

Good luck, and have a great semester!
