Everyone loves some time off from school here and there. Even if you took classes over the summer, you probably had at least a little break from the books. And although we aren’t necessarily looking forward to a Wisconsin winter, midterms, and the overall stress that the school year brings, you probably missed these 7 things about going to school at UWL while you were away for the summer.
1. School friends (duh)
College friends are probably some of the greatest friendships you’ve ever made, and chances are you didn’t get to see all of them over the summer. Now that you’re back to class, you’ve probably already had an emotional reunion.
2. Your roommates
You missed all of your friends, but the bond you have with your roommates is extra special. If you were apart this summer, you’re super relieved to be living under the same roof again.
3. Not working all the time
One of the biggest bummers of summer for many of us is working full time–or more than full time–and not getting to fully enjoy it. Now that the semester has started, you are busy with classes and probably a part time job, but it’s nice to have a break from working 24/7!
4. The social scene
Regardless of the amazing adventures you may have had over the summer months, the social activities at UWL are hard to beat. You make sure to attend as many parties, darties, trips to The Pearl, and bluff hikes as possible now that the the school year is back.
5. Classes you love (hopefully)
Although some classes are stressful or boring (hello, gen-eds), hopefully you have a few classes and professors that make you excited about going to school. You love listening to their lectures, the reading is interesting, and you’ll admit that you don’t even mind their homework that much.
6. The beauty of La Crosse
If you lived away from UWL all summer, you definitely missed the breathtaking views the city has to offer. Even if you haven’t left, watching the leaves change on the bluffs as you walk around campus is quite a treat.
7. The hustle and bustle of campus life
It’s hard to put your finger on it, but there’s something special about the beginning of the school year. Seeing campus full of people and energy is enough to bring in excited students time and time again.
Here’s to another great school year!
