5 Healthier Treats for Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Are you wanting to enjoy the yummy treats associated with Valentine’s Day, but are trying to cut back on your dessert intake? Well here are some healthier options to satisfy your sweet tooth.

1. Berries and Whipped Cream (54 Calories)

For this recipe all you need is 10 raspberries and 1/8 cup of light whipped topping.

2. White Hot Chocolate (68 Calories)

To make this yummy drink you need 1/2 tablespoon Ghirardelli Sweet Ground White Chocolate Powder, 1/2 cup skim milk, and just a dash of cinnamon. It’s sure to help warm you up this chilly Valentine’s Day.

3. Dark Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries (74 Calories)

All this recipe needs is 1 tablespoon melted dark chocolate and two strawberries. In fact, (<--I would suggest deleting the "in fact" as it's not really necessary) one reason why this treat is so good is because dark chocolate has less sugar and is known for health benefits in small quantities.

4. Berry Frozen Yogurt Bites (106 calories)

This recipe is a little bit more complex, but definitely worth it.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup blueberries

1 cup lowfat Greek vanilla yogurt

Directions:

Mix blueberries and Greek yogurt in bowl.

Fill ice cube tray with mixture and freeze 2-3 hours or until firm.

5. Banana Split Yogurt Parfaits (319 Calories)

Again, this recipe takes a little bit more work but it is certainly worth it! It’s a healtheir option to the classic banana split.

Ingredients:

1 cup lowfat Greek vanilla yogurt

1/4 cup caramel dip

1 banana

6 strawberries, sliced

1 tablespoon mini chocolate chips

Directions:

Spoon ¼ yogurt into two glasses.

Drizzle with 1 tablespoon caramel dip.

Add bananas, strawberries and cherries.

Repeat layers.

Top with chocolate chips.

Enjoy Valentine’s Day with these healthier sweets and have fun making them!

I am a freshman attending the University of Wisconsin Stout. My major is Professional Communication and Emerging Media with a concentration in Applied Journalism. I am from a small town in Southeast Wisconsin. I love everything and anything Disney. Recently, I have gotten into RunDisney. It brings my love of Disney together with living a healthier lifestyle. After college, I hope to obtain a job with Disney, preferably in the RunDisney division.
