Dos and Donts of Spring Break Fashion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Flip flops, sun tan lotion, the ocean, no school. No, it’s not summer. It’s Spring Break. That wonderful break in the middle of spring semester when you get to trade your clunky winter boots in for a week of barefooted bliss. For those of you who are fortunate enough to travel somewhere warm and tropical for break here are a few tips on how to dress to the nine’s during your break.

  • DO Wear Florals

Contrary to popular belief wearing florals when on vacation is not always touristy or cliché. Pair the bright florals with a neutral top or pair of shorts so you don’t go completely overboard.

  • DON’T Wear Unzipped Shorts

Whether you’re on the beach or strolling around town steer clear of pairing your swimsuit with unzipped shorts. If you want to be covered up but don’t want to deal with the hassle of zippers and buttons try a cover up or maxi dress. Not only is it cuter and trendier but it’s also far more comfortable.

  • DON’T Wear High Heels with Swimsuits

Spring Break is all about effortless comfort and beauty. Save the heels for dinner and stick to flip flops or ballet flats.

  • DO Accessorize

Just because you’re headed to the pool or the beach doesn’t mean you can’t wear accessories. Keep it simple and stick to sunglasses, a floppy hat, or bright bangles.

  • DON’T Be Self-conscious

I realize this isn’t completely fashion-related but it important to keep in mind. You’re on Spring Break so stop comparing yourself to the girl in the designer swimsuit or who’s jogging on the beach. Wear what you want, relax, and enjoy yourself!
