It’s 2 AM, and you’re lying in bed trying to catch some z’s before a big test tomorrow. What’s on your mind? Food. It’s normal to feel that annoying pang of hunger, but sometimes it feels like much more than just hunger. You get angry and emotional, and all you can think about is that ooey gooey cheese on that pizza or the greasiest thing you can find. There’s quite a noticeable difference. Here’s a look at how it feels to be hangry in college.
- Shopping At The Grocery Store
If there’s one thing my mother taught me, it was to never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. Otherwise, you’d find me buying things I don’t even typically eat, and you’d have to literally fight to get me out of the chip and candy aisle.
- Ordering At A Restaurant
Everyone loves the feeling of seeing their food arrive. Sometimes you are so hangry that you don’t even wait to dig in before the waiter or waitress sets down your plate. When someone asks, “can I try a bite?” you hiss and pull your plate closer, and proceed to shovel the deliciousness into your mouth like a vacuum.
- Snacking
Snacking while you’re hangry is a scary thing. It shouldn’t even be considered a ‘snack’ anymore after devouring a family-sized bag of chips.
- Ordering In
Instead of ordering enough food for yourself, you end up ordering enough to feed a small village. Being hangry tends to hurt your wallet.
Being hungry in college is normal. It’s when you become hangry that problems arise. Pretty soon you’re growling at people just like your stomach is growling at yourself for food. College is hard enough, so go ahead and have the last of those dozen doughnuts at 2 AM. You’ve earned it, hangry one.
