Name: Kenzie Beth KruegerHometown: Buffalo City, WI (a town made up of only 900 people)Program of Emphasis: Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management – Specialization in Event Planning ManagementRelationship Status: In a relationship with Brad Chandler (Industrial Design Major & hot ginger)
HC: Tell us about yourself!
KK: Hi everyone! My name is Kenzie and I’m a sophomore here at Stout. My specialization within my major is Event Planning Management and I hope to pursue a career being a wedding planner/coordinator at a ritzy high end boutique location. I have a fast paced and clean freak lifestyle with many goals in mind! I enjoy being involved on campus through my intramural badminton team with my sister (GO KRUEGER²) as well as being the Marketing Director on the executive board of my organization, Stout Events Society. I enjoy bowling for .50 at Stout Ale House on Thursday’s with my friends and taking long drives through the random back roads of Menom!
H(C: How would you describe yourself in three words?
KK: High-strung, motivated, and an individual.
HC: Summer break is almost here! Do you have any big plans?
KK: I have an internship up north in Detroit Lakes, MN at Fair Hills Resort. I will be the Events Marketing Intern where I learn about promotional campaigns and how to market each and every event hosted at the resort as well as assisting with weddings. I am very excited for my summer on the lake!
HC: What do you love most about your major?
KK: I love how diverse it is and how you can really do anything with it! If wedding events don’t work out for me, there are so many other options I have! I also love how many organizations there are on campus for students to get involved with just through my major. I think it is so important to get involved and network with other students within your major!
HC: Where do you see yourself in five years?
KK: I see myself in a high end boutique hotel in a metropolis area downtown! I want to be out of the Midwest and into a warmer climate! I also see myself planning and executing the weddings at my boutique hotel – which is my dream job! I also see myself hopefully engaged and also planning my own wedding (hint, hint Brad… ;) ).
HC: What is your “go to” outfit?
KK: Well, I like to wear black so I’d say my black skinny jeans, black flowy tank top, overlay kimono, and my TOMS. (Basically what’s in my picture I chose) Oh! And a sock bun on my head; a.k.a my signature move.Â
HC: How did you and your boyfriend meet?
KK: It’s a funny story actually! My sister, Katie, who also attends Stout, met a guy her freshman year named Jordan. Jordan has a best friend named Brad. I came to Stout two years after Katie, Jordan, and Brad and then Katie and Jordan hooked Brad and I up. We are now just four peas in a pod and the rest is history!
HC: What do you think is the best thing about being in a relationship?
KK: I really enjoy the fact that when I say, “Brad, can we just watch Netflix and eat spaghetti tonight?” He’s just like, “That’s exactly what I was thinking.” I realize this is what our relationship has become on a Friday night and we’re both completely okay with this. Considering we’ve been together for 2 years, 4 months, and 21 days). LOVE YOU B-RAD.
HC: From your own experience, what is your opinion on how to keep a relationship going and make it the best that it can possibly be?
KK: BE YOURSELF! If you can’t be comfortable around this person and put it all out there, how will your relationship ever work? Have fun, do things that you normally wouldn’t do, go to a museum or a zoo, sing “Frozen” duets in the car (or in my case, I just sing and Brad listens), and most importantly be open with each other! No one likes a liar.
HC: What are some things you and your boyfriend disagree on, and how do you resolve those issues?
KK: Brad and I definitely disagree on the music we listen to when we’re in the car together because I like to listen to Disney music and he likes to listen to rock. We end up listening to nothing and just talk through our road trip, which we enjoy anyway!
HC: Do you have any advice for the freshman at Stout that you wish you would’ve received?
KK: Go join a sport or somehow get that early registration date for classes. I struggle with getting any classes that I want every semester because I have the last possible day for registering! (For real, this is crucial to your stress levels).
