Hometown: Woodbury, Minnesota

Major: Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management
HC: What are your favorite hobbies?
SK:Â My favorite hobbies are probably: cooking, making music, playing soccer, and brewing.
HC: I heard you attended school in New York, what was the school and how was it?
SK: I went to The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. It was an incredible experience, looking back I really miss all the friends I met and cooked with every day.Â
HC: How did you like living in New York? Run into any problems there?
SK: I loved it. It was a really neat experience being so close to such an exciting city and seeing all the things that make it such a cool place to be. The most common problem I ran into was getting lost and going the wrong way on the subway then showing up late somewhere. Also there were a few times I almost got hit by taxis in the street, but that happens to the best of us.Â
HC: What made you decide to attend school in New York
SK: The main reason I wanted to go to that school specifically is because it is very highly regarded in the hospitality/food-service industry, and it was the only school I really applied to at the time.Â
HC: Are you involved with any other activities on campus?
SK: This makes me sound super lame but I’m not really involved in many campus activities.Â
HC: What would be your idea of a perfect date?
SK: I think a perfect date would be going out to dinner at 112 Eatery in Minneapolis, catching a kick-ass show at First Avenue, then ending the night at the Marvel Bar for 1-5 cocktails, beers, or glasses of wine.Â
HC: What was your first kiss like?
SK:My first kiss was super cliché. I was pretty young at summer camp, it was our last night there and the girl I really liked said she liked me and gave me her AIM screen name (so I knew things were pretty serious). Then as we walked back to the cabins she stopped me, almost tripped me and made me fall over, and we kissed. Looking back I couldn’t tell you if it was any good or not…I think I was so happy I didn’t sleep that night.
HC: What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday?
SK: My favorite way to spend a Sunday is by cooking an obscene amount of food and eating it with friends and my family while we watch football.Â
HC: Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
SK: In five years I really want to be living with my friends in New York City or living abroad in either France or Spain and working with food, wine, and tourism.Â
HC: Any fun facts you’d like to share about yourself?
SK My favorite movies are: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Back to the Future.
-I just learned how to surf in Northern Spain
-I love to collect bottles of wine and beer
