On Saturday, September 12, 2015 the University of Windsor’s Welcome Week went out with a bang! Thousands of people showed up to the Riverfront Festival Plaza to enjoy music remixes done by The Chainsmokers for Life In Color (LIC), “the world’s largest paint party” (SFX-LIC Operating).
A majority of spectators arrived sporting white t-shirts, pants, and dresses in the hopes of getting the most vibrant effect possible from the various shades of neon paint being flung throughout the audience. It was obvious that many people put a lot of effort into their outfits before heading to LIC. Individuals with gems and glitter arranged in patterns on their faces, necks, and arms were a common sight and flower crowns and glow sticks were also extremely popular accessories.
Despite the fact that temperatures were low, people continuously poured through the gates which kept the venue packed all night long. However, anyone close to the stage didn’t even notice the cold because people in the crowd were dancing so close to one another.
The operators of LIC state that the concert is “about connecting with music lovers from around the world who’ve come together to experience the time of their lives” (SFX-LIC Operating). Based on what a couple of University of Windsor students had to say about the event, LIC has achieved their goal.
“This concert smoked out all the other concerts,” said Spencer Momney, second year Criminology & English Major.
Josh Scaife, a first year History Major said, “I thought it was amazing, one of the funniest and craziest nights of my life! The whole night was just insanely interesting.”
Overall, it seems like the finale to Windsor Welcome Week was highly successful.
