Post-exam relief can create a feeling of emptiness. The urge to be completely unproductive can be overwhelming after the stress of the school year. While many college and university students work during the summer to pay off loans and save up for the upcoming year, it’s important to focus on more than work.
During the semester, it’s hard to take time for yourself. Even though your energy may be lacking, try to use your extra time during the summer to do something that means a lot to you – not your profs, parents, or boss. Here are some questions to get you started:
What are you passionate about? Think about what you love and how you can make time for it this summer.
Do you need the same summer-to-summer job you’ve had since high school? Take a risk and send your resume out to a new place that will help you on your way to your dream job.
If you had unlimited time and money, what would you do? Now downsize that to the amount of time and money that you do have and think of a way to get started.
If these questions aren’t helping, here are some ideas:
Volunteer for a good cause.
Finish that creative project you’ve been working on.
Outline the business plan you’ve been thinking of all year.
Start the YouTube channel or blog your friends have been urging you to begin.
Learn that new skill you haven’t been able to stop thinking about.
Don’t turn into a couch potato this summer, collegiettes! Love yourself by doing something great for yourself. Have an amazing summer!
