Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it has become far more difficult to travel away from home, but this gives us the chance to explore our own beautiful province (while following safety precautions, of course). These destinations are budget-friendly and affordable– not to mention breathtaking. Keep reading for five places you must visit in Ontario!

1.       Algonquin Provincial Park

Are you an outdoorsy person? Well, Algonquin Provincial Park is for you! Located in Southern Ontario, just about two hours from Toronto, this park has an extensive network of hiking trails and scenic views, with a lakefront campground. It’s a beautiful place to take lots of pictures and get away from the busy city!

2.       Royal Ontario Museum

Located in Toronto is one of the most premier museums in the province. The Royal Ontario Museum features a broad range of collections, from natural history and science, to exhibits from around the world! This museum is placed in a convenient location in Downtown Toronto with lots of places within walking distance, including the Art Gallery of Ontario!

3.       Niagara Falls

This one’s a given, but if you’ve never been, book a trip to Niagara Falls immediately! And if you’ve already been, well, one can never get enough. Niagara Falls is Canada’s most internationally recognized attraction and stretches between Canada and the USA. There are plenty of activities to explore, such as a ferry tour beneath the falls and a helicopter tour above! Visit Ripley’s Believe it or Not and the Butterfly Conservatory! Take a stroll along the walkway, a scenic drive around the falls, and enjoy the many shops to explore within walking distance.

4.       Blue Mountain Resort

Just outside of Collingwood and on the shores of the Georgian Bay is one of the most popular ski resorts in Ontario. Blue Mountain Village, located at the base of the hill, features fine-dining restaurants, top-end shops, and first-class accommodations. The resort is open year-round, both in the summer and winter, and features several activities, such as rock climbing, ziplining, mountain biking, and hiking.

5.       Arkona Rock Glen Falls

A very affordable and local trip to this little waterfall and trail is a great getaway from your busy life. At an affordable price-point of only $4 per person, take a stroll through nature, collect some fossils, and sunbathe on the rocks. This fall is located just outside of London, Ontario. Conveniently, the little town of Grand Bend is close by to fulfill all of your beach and shopping needs!

I hope you enjoyed this little list of places to visit in Ontario and decide to take a local getaway trip! Remember, even a nice day trip can feel refreshing!
