My Fall Base Makeup Recs

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

With summer on the way out, gone are the days of looking perfectly bronzed and sun-kissed. This begs the question, how do we transition to fall makeup?

These are *my personal product recommendations* to achieve a gorgeous fall face!

* These are products that I like and work for me, everyone’s makeup style is different and products will look different on everyone!*

PRIMER

Rare Beauty Illuminating Primer – Glowy skin is always in and this primer provides a natural glow that feels hydrating and cooling on the skin. It sits well under my makeup, it doesn’t clump or cause cakiness. It can even be worn on its own without any other products!

If you don’t want to break the bank, Try This:

e.l.f. Power Grip Primer + Niacinamide – This primer makes my makeup LAST! This primer is what I reach for when I do my makeup for my long serving shifts, and I look just as good 10 hours later as I did when I left my house. This primer feels refreshing on my skin and provides a skin care bonus with the inclusion of niacinamide. Plus it’s pink!

CONCEALER + FOUNDATION:

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – One of the more expensive purchases I’ve made but worth it if you can afford it! This concealer provides a more medium coverage, which is what I prefer for a natural makeup look. In my experience, it sits well both under and on top of other makeup products, and covers darkness under my eyes while rarely creasing.

Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer – This product has been a staple in my makeup routine since it came out! It’s perfect for light everyday makeup or as a base in your full glam going out looks. I’m not a fan of heavy foundation so the lightweight feel and light coverage is perfect for throwing on quickly for a day on campus! This product also has a great shade range with warm, cool, and neutral toned shades.

If you don’t want to break the bank, Try This:

e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer – This product is one of my top repurchases! It provides a medium full coverage and a little goes a long way. It’s brightening, rarely creases on me, and covers up any small blemishes or scars on my face with ease.

Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream – This product is great for oily skin and provides a nice medium coverage without feeling too thick. It’s a great product for beginners or people who don’t wear makeup often since it is easily blendable. It was a staple in my base makeup for the longest time. The only downside is that it has a very limited shade range.

BLUSH:

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush – Shade LOVE – Y’all had to know this one was coming;Miss Selena knows what she’s doing! I am a sucker for blush and I own WAY too many shades of this blush. Love is a matte terracotta shade, a perfect shade for matching with the burgundies, sage greens, and browns of fall fashion. These blushes look gorgeous under makeup or make a statement on their own. I love to layer this blush under the Merit Beauty Terracotta shade to give it that full fall feel!

If you don’t want to break the bank, Try This:

Pixi On-the-Glow Blush – Shade JUICY – I love an orange blush! These Pixi blushes are so convenient and easy to use; you just swipe it on and blend with your finger! The colour pay-out isn’t as intense as some other products, but that makes it easier to wear on its own. This shade is so fun and provides a nice pop of colour without giving that sun-burnt look.

BRONZER:

KIKO Cosmetics Create Your Balance Colour Boost Face Bronzer – This bronzer is definitely one of the more affordable higher end products in my collection. It’s a powder bronzer and blends like a dream (better than any other powder bronzer I’ve tried). It helps bring a little life back into my face after I’ve applied my other products, and gives your makeup dimension without looking like you just came back from the tanning bed. Unfortunately the shade range is severely lacking, with only two shades to choose from.

If you don’t want to break the bank, Try This:

Annabelle Perfect Bronzer – Annabelle is probably one of the cheapest drug store brands in Canada, but their products always show up. This bronzer is easy to work with, applies smoothly and has a good colour pay-out. It also doesn’t contain any glitter or shine like most other drugstore bronzers.

HIGHLIGHTER

WYCON Cosmetics – Gliding Pearl Highlighter – Shade GOLDEN HOUR – I bought this while on vacation with my family. Wycon Cosmetics is Italian made, cruelty free and affordable. I love a gold highlighter for fall and this one applies so smoothly. It gives you a gorgeous glowy look without highlighting (hehe get it?) the texture of my skin.

If you don’t want to break the bank, Try This:

Revolution Highlighter Reloaded – Shade RAISE THE BAR – Another pretty gold highlighter, this product by Revolution also provides a gorgeous shine. The shimmer particles are a little thicker and doesn’t apply as smoothly as the Gliding Pearl Highlighter but it is a great affordable option for people like me who love a lot of sparkle in their makeup routine!
