Within minutes of Halloween ending, many people feel the need to start celebrating Christmas by stringing lights and decorating trees to the sound of “Jingle Bells.” These people are overly aggressive when it comes to holiday celebration if you ask me. Halloween decorations are still up, trick-or-treaters have not yet finished their candy, and university and college students have not even made their way home from the bars yet. November 1st is far too early to begin the festivities.

Before I continue, I want to make one thing clear: I do not hate Christmas. I actually love Christmas. I blast Christmas music, gift wrap in an impressively decorative manner, and say Merry Christmas to everyone I see. However, I think that no lights, decorations, carols, trees, or presents should be displayed until December 1st.

Think about it; if everyone gets excited about Christmas this early, no one will be excited when the holiday actually comes around. The decorations will be dusty, the cookies will be stale, and the songs will be overplayed. Personally, I’m not going to celebrate until I can eat the chocolate from the advent calendar.

I realize that my thoughts on Christmas celebrations aren’t shared by everyone. I also know that this article isn’t going to make Aggressive Celebrators any less enthusiastic. Just know that if you are an Aggressive Celebrator, don’t get too offended if your roommate gets annoyed by anything Christmas-related you might be doing. They’re just a November Grinch and they’ll come around in a month or so.
