When living the busy life of a university student, anything that implies quick and easy for the morning is always essential. We can all agree that, especially with cold winter mornings, laying in bed for an extra 10 minutes seems a lot more appealing than waking up and beginning our day. I have prepared a recipe for a quick breakfast, perfect for those of us in rush, that will provide the necessary nutrients we need to stay motivated and energized throughout the day.
Â
You will need:
-ÂĽ cup steel cut oats
-½ cup hot water
-1 tbsp organic honey or agave
-1 tsp of chia seeds
-1 tsp of cinnamon
-ÂĽ cup of diced apples
Â
Directions:
Add all dry ingredients into a bowl (steel cut oats, chia seeds, cinnamon), and mix well. Next, add hot water to the mix and allow it to sit for 2-3 minutes to absorb. Lastly, add organic honey or agave to the mix to add some sweetness, and finish with diced apples.
Â
This oatmeal takes less than 5 minutes to make and is the perfect warm breakfast to compliment the cold outdoors. You can even prepare the ingredients in a bowl before bed and add your water the following morning to save even more time! Next time you go to make a microwaveable oatmeal from a package, think twice about all of the added sugar and preservatives, and create this quick and healthy breakfast option.
