Last Thursday evening, various students from the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (FAHSS) celebrated their academic achievements at the Dean’s Honour Roll Dinner. The event was held in the Ambassador Auditorium where students got to mingle with one another, speak with the Dean, Dr. Nancy E. Wright, and various professors from FAHSS. Students also enjoyed a formal dinner provided by the University of Windsor.
In order to receive an invitation to the dinner, students must have completed at least ten courses by the end of the 2015 Winter Semester and have a cumulative average of at least 86%. The amount of hard work it took students to accomplish such an academic achievement was long and difficult, but recognition from the university lets students know that their work has not gone unnoticed.
At the beginning of the event, Dr. Wright and Dr. Douglas Kneale, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, welcomed students and their guests. After dinner, Adam Vasey, the Director of Pathway to Potential, spoke to students about how they can have an effect on their community. Vasey was a member of the Dean’s Honour Roll while at the University of Windsor and he emphasized how students can use their academic success.
At the end of Vasey’s speech, individual students were called onstage to receive their certificates from Dr. Wright. Students got to take pictures with professors from their specific programs, and before leaving, there were many group pictures taken of everyone from FAHSS that was able to attend the dinner.
