On Saturday, December 9th members of the Windsor community gathered to show their support for Palestine in a response to an announcement made by the President Donald Trump, who stated that Jerusalem was the capital of Israel in addition to the U.S. outposts located in the city. The protest was  was held from 2-4 p.m. at City Hall. Hadeel Al- Zubeidi, who was a main organizer of the event stated, “I feel like the event went very well. It was well received by the public and we had a big turn out. It was great to see many people from different backgrounds, races and religions, coming out to show their support and solidarity! That is what the Windsor community is built on and what we need to lead by example with. That we are stronger in numbers. The rally was stationary, but our voices echoed throughout the city.It  would never have been possible without the dedication   university students such as Ahmed Khalifa, Moussa Hamadani, Lena Sleiman and others !
The rally was able to come together  because these university and community leaders had one thing on  their minds and in their hearts,  Trump’s  declaration  goes against ethics and violates many laws and protocols and at the end of the day Jerusalem will forever be Palestine’s capital  and with that sparked the initiative to create t a safe platform for many Windsorites who feel the same to express their emotions.” This topic hits home for many around the world. There were over hundreds of protests worldwide. And with that shows, if we stand united, we will create change.”
