Wolf Miraj, a first-year international student from Dubai, is pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Business. Within only a few short months, he became well-known at the University of Windsor for the great parties he hosts for students! However, there’s a lot more to Wolf Miraj than his party-host side.
Â
Why do you host parties?
Â
I think everyone lives under stress in university and you should go to one or two good parties at the end of each semester or once a month. It’s good in university to network and socialize.
Â
When did you start hosting parties?
Â
My first [party] was last semester and it was called Winter Seduction. It was the last party of the semester. There were quite a lot of people that came, there was a good turnout. The one this Friday [March 27] is going to be even better! We have a bouncy castle [and] a fog machine. This is going to be something Windsor hasn’t seen before. On the Facebook page there’s 130 to 140+ people going, so hopefully it’s going to be a good one.
Â
Is it important to you that everyone has fun at your parties?
Â
To be honest, a host can at max provide everyone with certain things to have fun. A host can never force you to have fun at a party. You can only have fun depending on what kind of person you are. If I’m a boring person or antisocial, I can’t have fun unless I put myself out there. A host can’t make someone have fun, you have to do it yourself. He can only provide you with a place and drinks and stuff like that.
Â
Do you have a party signature?
Â
I think it’s my name, because it’s Wolf. Everyone is like, “are you going to Wolf’s party?” and we always make it known. Our first party was Winter Seduction and it’s known as the last party of the semester and right now it’s Spring Fling because everyone should get out. I make sure that no one is having a party on that night and that no one’s been to a party for, like, a week. We make sure the police don’t interrupt because we speak to the police at the beginning.
Â
Would you say that you’re close friends with the people you invite or are you just acquaintances?
Â
Definitely close. With many of them, they end up bringing their friends and that’s how the turnout is really good. Tomorrow there are people coming from London, Toronto, and Waterloo just for the party. Friends I’ve made here ask, “Can my friends come?” I’m like, sure, your friends are my friends!
Â
Is your personality different when you’re with a small group of friends versus big parties?
Â
To be honest, yeah, it actually is. I kind of have two personalities. When it comes to parties, it’s my party animal personality. I’m talking to everyone, like, “Hey, what’s up?” When I’m with my close friends, like Bahaa Z, I have a very hand-counted close number of friends. Like my boys to study with, I have a good balance between partying and studying. I wouldn’t say I’m a nerd, I wish I was. I’m average at studying but I need my friends for that balance. You can’t spend your life partying. Basically, right now I got a 70% on my midterm and it’s definitely due to my friend. Now I’m more pumped for the party!
Â
Now that you’ve learned more about Wolf’s parties, get to know the guy behind the excitement!
Â
What’s your favourite 90’s cartoon?
Â
My all-time favourite would be Pokemon. I remember McDonalds back then, we used to get for Happy Meals a little Pikachu and I still have the little soft toys. Up until grade seven or eight I could still sing Pokemon! I think cartoons these days are kind of weird though.
Â
What are your goals?
Â
To be a successful entrepreneur. Honestly, I don’t keep two or three goals. I have one goal. If I’m a successful entrepreneur, everything follows that. I’ve got friends, loyal friends, that’s important, and a family that supports me in everything. I can see myself being a successful entrepreneur because everything comes along with it. I do believe money [is] a second god.
Â
What has been your best Canadian experience so far?
Â
It would be street food. The first time I had street food was in the US in New York and the second time was in Toronto. We don’t have street food in Dubai. They take it as a hygiene issue down there. I lived off of McDonalds down there but you can’t tell because it’s all real chicken because of food regulation. I love food, so I love street food. I would say pancakes, but we have IHOP in Dubai. I like Canadian maple syrup, and anything to do with cinnamon I’m down!
Â
What’s something interesting you’ve done?
Â
I love anything to do with acting. I was actually in a movie. A Bollywood production, “Happy New Year”. This is where everything kicked off. I wouldn’t call it really big because I’m not signing autographs and stuff, but I did for my school security guard when the movie came out! It was just a small part, but it’s what got me started in modeling. That’s actually part of the reason why I came to Canada, because my agent is in Canada.
