The World’s Greatest Humanitarian Crisis: Yemen

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

The world’s largest humanitarian crisis  is in Yemen according to the United Nations. The current conflict has left 18.8 million people in need of humanitarian assistance and 10.3 million who require immediate assistance to save their lives. The war has resulted in the largest food security emergency in the world ; currently, there are more than 17 million people in Yemen who are currently food-insecure.  The conflict has been going on for years but was exacerbated in March 2015 after the involvement of a Saudi- led coalition. Here are some organizations you can donate to, to help (Al Jazeera):

1.      Oxfam

2.     Save the Children

3.     Unicef (BBC).

Another way to help would be to write to our government and condemn Canadian support for Saudi Arabia, including  the selling of combat vehicles that occurred in 2016 under  the leadership of Justin Trudeau (Globe and Mail). Contact your MP or the House of Commons at
